“The Lamb is the light of it.”

Revelation 21:23
Think about what it means for the Lamb to be the light of heaven. Light in Scripture is the emblem of joy. The joy of the saints in heaven is found in Jesus—- that he chose us, loved us, bought us, cleansed us, robed us, kept us, and glorified us.
Light is also the cause of beauty. There is no beauty if there is no light. Without light no radiance can flash from the sapphire, no peaceful ray can shine from the pearl. In the same way all the beauty of the saints comes from Jesus. Like planets they reflect the light of the Sun of Righteousness. If He withdrew Himself, they must die; if His glory were veiled, their glory must expire.
Light is also the symbol of knowledge. In heaven our knowledge will be perfect, but the Lord Jesus Himself will be the fountain of it. All that puzzles us now will one day become plain in the light of the Lamb.
Light also reveals. Although we don’t know what we will be like in Heaven, when Christ touches us with the wand of His own love we will be changed into the image of His manifested glory. What a transformation! To be stained with sin, but, with one touch of His finger, we will be as bright as the sun and clear as crystal.
Heaven will be gloriously bright, and Jesus will be the center and soul of it all. Oh! to be present and to see Him in His own light, the King of kings, and Lord of lords! [M&E]  8/3/15 - M
